Silica Fiber Materials


Materials based on silica fibers are made by way of chemical leaching of glass fibers in acid solutions. As a result, the amount of SiO2 in the fiber considerably increases. The basic difference of silica fibers developed at NPO Stekloplastic from the known analogues is an optimum relation of two oxides with a high melting point (SiO2, Al2O2). It is because we use specially designed glass fibers for leaching instead of traditional E-glass fibers.

Excellent dielectric characteristics in combination with a high thermal stability (higher than 1000 °C), as well as resistance to various chemical environments and biocidal radiation, have determined a wide usage of silica materials in various industries.
